Processing Guide
This guide explains how to process your raw survey data into clean, readable maps. We have designed the process to be as simple as possible so you can focus on finding archaeological features.
Step 1: Importing Data
- Click Import Data on the main screen.
- Select your raw survey files. DIG supports a variety of standard formats.
- The software will automatically detect the data type (e.g., magnetometry, GPR).
Step 2: Applying Filters
Raw data often contains noise from modern iron (like fences) or uneven walking speeds. You can apply filters to clean this up: - Despike: Removes sudden, sharp spikes in the data that are usually caused by modern trash. - Zero Mean Traverse: Balances the data to remove striping effects caused by walking back and forth.
Step 3: Reviewing the Results
After processing, DIG will display a map of your data. You can adjust the contrast and color palette to make archaeological features (like walls or ditches) stand out more clearly.
Once you are happy with the results, you can move on to exporting your data or integrating it with other software.
